Re-Union Day at Chorley

Chorley FC have invited former Chorley, Horwich RMI and Leigh RMI/Genesis players to the match between Chorley and Leigh Genesis on Saturday February 27th at Victory Park, kick-off 3.00pm.

Chorley's chairman, Ken Wright played for Horwich RMI, the fore-runner of Leigh RMI/Genesis for many years and managed the club during the successful years of the early 1980's before joining the Magpies.

Chorley manager Steve Waywell played for both Horwich and Chorley and went on to manage Leigh RMI during their glory days when the club was in the Football Conference, finishing fifth in season 2000/01, and held Kevin Keegan's Fulham to a draw in the FA Cup at Craven Cottage before bowing out 0-2 in front of a bumper attendance at Hilton Park.

These near-neighbours have been rivals for many years, going back to the days of the old Lancashire Combination, Cheshire League and of course the Northern Premier Leagues, and there must be many players who have represented both clubs during their playing careers.

Chorley hope many familiar faces from the past will come along to Victory Park and meet up with former team-mates and opponents for an opportunity to re-live the 'glory-days' that both clubs have enjoyed in the past.

All former players who turn up on the day will be admitted free of charge.
