Evans Pleased with Romulus Show

Romulus boss Richard Evans declared himself pleased with his sides pre season progress this week after a lively start to their warm up schedule.

The Roms 2-3 reverse at home to Chasetown on Saturday was their first defeat in their four games so far- matches that have seen 10 goals for and 8 against for Evans side.

Despite some defensive set backs along the way, Evans was not worried. "I'm really pleased with shape of side at moment, we have a bit of work to do on back four and goalkeeper but we are happy we can sort that situation out.

"Had Saturday [against Chasetown] been a league game I would have been very disappointed not to get at least a point from it when you consider how lively we were.

"Add to that the absence of Danny Douglas, Richard Evans [Jnr] and Luke Paskin from the backline I thought we did very well, there was plenty to take out of it."

Evans has seen a number of trialists over the past few weeks but confirmed there had been no further faces added to the squad since Nathan Walker and Gavin Day, formerly of Boldmere St Michaels, signed up last week.

One player who won't be lining up for Romulus next season however is Nick Heath.

"He's left because he wanted higher wages. We couldn't afford to do that so he's no longer with us."

The Roms travel to Leicestershire this weekend to take on Loughborough University of the Midland Alliance before making the short trip to Dudley Town on Wednesday night. Supporters travelling to Loughborough on Saturday are reminded that the kick off is 2pm
