Groundhoppers Visit the Oldest Club in the World

Saturday afternoon’s game against Leek Town was a special day for ground hoppers Barry McVean and Kevin Walford. The duo, who have visited all 92 Premier League and Football League grounds, visited where it all began, Sheffield FC.

And Barry and Kevin certainly weren’t disappointed on their visit to the BT Local Business Stadium.

“The history is second to none,” said McVean. “The people we’ve met today and the hospitality has been superb. I think it’s what the game should be about,” he added.

Kevin Walford, who is a Shrewsbury Town supporter, told of how his sides experiences has led him to change to the non-league scene.

“Being a Shrewsbury fan, when we went down to the Conference I started to experience the lower league scene and that’s what got me hooked on wanting to see more grounds,” Walford said. “I haven’t got an interest in the Premier League because this, to me, is football,” he added.

The duo now look to go on and continue their travels into the Non-League scene travelling the length and breadth of the country.
